General Motors has high hopes for its new Cadillac model and expects the sales to more than double compare to its older models from the same line. GM sold 199,000 Cadillac cars and SUVs last year, including 152,000 in the United States.GM already regained global sales leadership from Toyota and now has its eye on the luxury sector. Chief Executive Officer Dan Akerson wants GM to compete with Lexus for the 4th place in global luxury auto retail within the next 10 years. Its other competition will come from European automakers BMW, Audi and Mercedez-Benz, and growing sales beyond North America will be the top priority in order for GM to fulfill this 4th place target.
