Forex Speculators trimmed US Dollar bullish positions last week

US Dollar net speculator positions leveled at $28.01 billion last week

The latest data for the weekly Commitment of Traders (COT) report, released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Friday, showed that large traders and currency speculators decreased their bets for the US dollar last week.

The major currencies that rose against the US dollar last week were the euro (27,043 weekly change in contracts), British pound sterling (4,895 contracts), New Zealand dollar (250 contracts) and the Swiss franc (109 contracts).

Meanwhile, the currencies whose speculative net positions fell last week versus the dollar were the Japanese yen (-29,492 weekly change in contracts), Australian dollar (-7,398 contracts), Canadian dollar (-3,711 contracts) and the Mexican peso (-3,593 contracts).

WTI Crude Oil Speculators raised bullish bets to highest since 2014

The non-commercial contracts of WTI crude futures totaled a net position of 422767 contracts, according to data from last week. This was a change of 45141 contracts from the previous weekly total.

The large speculator contracts of gold futures declined to a total net position of 129311 contracts. This was a weekly change of -7069 contracts from the previous week.

The non-commercial contracts of silver futures totaled a net position of 66933 contracts, according to data from last week. This was a weekly change of 7568 contracts from the previous totals.

The large speculator contracts of copper futures totaled a net position of 61115 contracts. This was a weekly change of 4724 contracts from the data of the previous week.
