US dollar net short bets climbed to $8.64 billion from $7.42 billion against the major currencies during the previous week , according to the report of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) covering data up to June 19 released on Friday June 22. The dollar however strengthened on hawkish central bank statement and FED officials’ projections of at least four rate hikes this year instead of three as the benchmark federal funds rate was raised by a quarter percentage point to a range of 1.75% to 2%.
