The Canada-based firm continues its exploration activity on this property.

Altamira Gold Corp. (ALTA:TSX.V; EQTRF:OTCBB) received a two-year extension to the Porta Aberta claim block, which totals 1,521 hectares and is located 13 kilometers (13 km) south-southwest of the company’s Cajueiro project.

Recently on this claim, from a north-northwest trending shear zone over 2.5 km, 12 surface rock samples were taken and returned 5–242.8 grams per ton gold. Also demonstrated were elevated values of various metals, including gold, up to 60 grams per ton; zinc, up to 0.13%; lead, up to 1%; and copper, up to 0.08%.

“The discovery of very high-grade gold mineralization at Porta Aberta, which is located just 13km SSW of our flagship Cajueiro project, is highly significant and comes on top of recent discoveries at Matrincha and Baldo East at Cajuiero. We are optimistic that additional surface work at Porta Aberta will allow us to define targets ahead of drilling,” President and CEO Mike Bennett stated.

According to the company, “the Porta Aberta project area is characterized by extensive historic placer workings which produced an estimated 500kg of gold and cover an area of several square kilometers.”
