Auger drill results better define target trends and support that notion.
Cabral Gold Inc. (CBR:TSX.V; CBGZF:OTC.MKTS) announced that ongoing auger drilling and pitting on the Central/Pau de Merenda target of the Cuiu Cuiu project in Brazil initially showed “highly anomalous results in both gold counts and geochemical analyses,” according to the news release. Pau de Merenda sits along trend, 3 kilometers (3 km) northwest of the Central deposit.
The auger results, Cabral’s president and CEO Alan Carter said, “are very compelling and strongly suggest the presence of a significantly larger area of gold mineralization than is suggested by the current resource at Central.”
Split samples were taken at the target from the top few meters of the saprolite, or weathered bedrock, which deep soil covers in some areas and an alluvial sequence shields in others, potentially masking underlying gold.
Geochemical analysis of these samples revealed a mineralized corridor that extends 4-plus km from northwest to southeast, “essentially connecting” the Central deposit and the Pau de Merenda target, and is open along strike, the news release noted. “Results are currently pending on a series of trenches testing parts of this mineralized corridor where artisanal working have exposed the top of the saprolite below the cover sequence.”

Individual samples returned gold grades as high as 18.7 grams per ton. Gold counts exceeded 100 per local sample, according to the news release.
Testing of smaller split samples suggested the presence of a narrower anomalous zone and supported the 4-plus km long trend, the company noted. Cabral will continue evaluating new prospects, prioritizing drill targets and expanding the current resource. Further trenching and channel sampling are in progress.
