The main data markets should focus on in the week ahead is the first estimate of third quarter GDP and inflation numbers from the Eurozone. Equally important data will be from the UK with the publication of the latest Inflation Report.
The new trading week starts off relatively quietly with the only major data to look out for is the Sentix investor confidence data released for the Eurozone.
On Tuesday, most of the focus will be from the Asian region as there will hardly be any data from Europe or the US. Current account data and consumer confidence numbers are released in Japan. Australia publishes business confidence information and house price figures. Later in the data the British Retail Consortium issues its latest retail sales report.
The highlight of the week will be on Wednesday when the Bank of England publishes the final Inflation Report of the year. UK employment data will also be closely watched. The jobless rate currently stands at 6%. Following the UK data, the Eurozone releases an update on industrial production data.
On Thursday industrial output data are out in China. Investors like to watch data out of the second largest economy of the world. On the same day, inflation numbers are out in Germany, Italy and Spain, while Greece sees an update on unemployment figures. More important data to watch will be the European Central Bank’s latest monthly bulletin that contains a detailed analysis of the prevailing economic situation. From the US, weekly initial jobless claims are out.
